About Our Project

An active research group at Dartmouth and other institutions share a common research interest: to better understand the workings of the U.S. health care system, and more specifically to evaluate and consider ways to improve its efficiency: better quality care at lower cost. This research is funded primarily by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) an institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with important support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

This site serves as an introduction to our research interests and reports. The most recent news can be found in “Newspaper and Radio News” for example on recently published papers. A larger list of research studies may be found under “Publications,” while more detailed links to individual researchers can be found under “Who We Are.” There are also more specialized pages, whether for internal members of the NIA-supported program project “Causes and Consequences of Health Care Efficiency,” or for the research community seeking information on the use of Medicare claims data.
